Top 5 Decks for Afternoon Tea and Tarot

Introduction

I had a lovely afternoon tea in a London Hotel by the Thames a couple of weekends ago and it got me thinking: what deck would I take for Tarot readings with afternoon tea? Imagine the Lord/Duchess/Big Cheese of an impressive establishment invites you along to give readings in  genteel and cultured environs. Which deck could you take? Which deck would give you  confidence and help you fit in? Leave that old copy of your RWS in its tie-dye bag on the shelf! Here are Larch Tarot's Top 5 Decks for Afternoon Tea and Tarot.

1. Alice Tarot

A stately home such as Hatfield House or Blenheim Palace and this deck would fit right in between the china cake stands. The posh packaging and quality card stock would have the Dowager Duchesses reminising about their favourite childhood books and lining up for readings. Mind out for the English Heritage middle class militants though. They're unlikely to approve of anything remotely woo.

2. Bad Bitches Tarot

Let's head east towards the home county of Essex. Those fake-tanned princesses whose main ambition is to land a role on "The Only Way is Essex" would love a cheeky reading in a mock tudor mansion house over afternoon tea. Ethony's Bad Bitches deck would be the perfect choice with sassy women on one side and beautiful rose gold edging and bumble bees on the card backs. Your clients are bound to want a pendant to match. The presentation of this deck is superb and the gorgeous box might even influence your clients to go for a chocaholic afternoon tea!

3. True Black Tarot

You've been invited to afternoon tea at the continental hotel by Winston and in your desparation to get even just a glimpse of John Wick, you throw on your smartest outfit and grab which deck? Well it could really only be the True Black Tarot. It's sleek, it's matt black and it's gorgeous. It even has some of those untraceable gold coins on there! (One of those pays for everything in John Wick's world. Apparently.)

4. Monstarot

Back to London, UK and afternoon tea in the Harrods Tea Rooms. It's full of yummy mummies and their precious offspring with shopping bags full of designer wear and Steiff teddies. The pastel brights of the Monstarot is the ideal option, cute little creatures, no scary cards and a delightful nursery blue box.

5. Moonchild Tarot

If you haven't yet had your fill of tiny sandwiches and miniature cakes, lets head off to Highclere Castle the home Lord Carnarvon, who alongside Howard Carter, discovered King Tutankhamun's tomb. Where could you find a deck with an Egyptian influence, gold edging and an air of mystery that would remind Highclere of its days before the BBC took over with Downton? The Moonchild Tarot deck is a fabulous mix of unknown far-away lands and gorgeous colours. The ornate packaging would sit amongst the tea plates like a little jewel box.

Summary

There are so many lux decks out there but that would have made this a very long post.  Which deck would you take with you to afternoon tea? Comment below and let me know. Thank you for reading. Love Larch x

The Lili Black and the (something) Ladies Oracle fm France! I still haven't got it about the Moonchild. I will look to see if you've got a review on it.
