There are a lot of good things about this deck but the one thing that stands out, that will keep you reaching for it, is the delicious shufflability. Yes, that's a real word, I looked it up and it's the best way to describe how this deck feels in your hands.

This is not a new deck to the marketplace. It was around a while back and I didn't manage to pick it up at the time but it was one of those that I wished I'd gone for. Then I saw it on the Wootique website and thought, let's give it a go. As I mentioned it's got lots of positives, not least the beautiful artwork which according to the little guidebook that comes in the box is from original acrylic paintings done in 2017.

The colours are very earthy, browns, blues and greys with little accents of brights here and there (can I hear an aww for the tiny red toadstools). The guidebook says its based on the Rider-Waite-Smith system and I can see where that is the case but overall I'd describe this as an animal scenic pip deck. There are some cards with just pips and some with pips and animals and only one with a human (XV The Devil).

There is no specific animal dedicated to each suit however they each have a type, for example the Swords suit are all birds or airborne animals. The Cups suit is all water based mammals or fish. Each suit represents its element very well and although there are some cards that look similar, you can see the message of the progression that creates.

Production quality is excellent and as I mentioned at the top of this article, the feel of it in your hands is the thing that will keep you using this deck. It comes in a sturdy two-part box (insert your own tapping noises here) with a small but useful guidebook. The card stock is matt linen with shiny gold edging but here's the key, its soft and flexible and rifles and bridges beautifully and overhands with the kind of asmr that will relax even the most nervous of readers.

I've only just got this deck this week and my early readings have been on point but I acknowledge that I'll need to spend more time with the cards to really get to know them (who wouldn't want to spend more time with that cute little face in the Page of Cups?). The one thing I'm confident of though is that the ease of use of this deck will make it all the more likely that it does shine through amidst an ever growing world of Tarot.
