Deck Title – The Everyday Enchantment Tarot Creator/Artist – Poppy Palin Publisher - Schiffer Date purchased - 2018 IntroductionThe tag line for the Everyday Enchantment Tarot is "Finding magic in the midst of life". The images are of modern day life, on a building site, in a pub, at work or at home and the artist includes animals and 'spirit beings' that look like sprites or fairies. It does have a charming feel to the deck and each card reveals a wealth of information. Laying out a six card spread (the cards are quite big so you would need a large surface space to do a bigger layout) I can't help but feel like I'm reading a comic book story. What's Good?
What's Bad?
Stand Out/Favourite CardsThe Magician is an excellent depiction of nature within the urban environment. However the prominent position of the dagger on his belt doesn't make me think of swords but of the terrible issue of knife crime. The expression on the Knight of Swords face shows how he is just interested in giving the haircut he wants to give this poor woman who looks like she has been bulldozed by him and his energy. Her expression reminds me of the teenage comics I used to read like "Oh Boy!" and "Photolove". Anyone remember them? A skateboard as the Chariot is a really modern take on the card. The 5 of Cups shows a woman clinging to the misery of grief. Instead of having the traditional three cups over turned and two upright she has three upright representing the support from spirit, the Crow and her pet dog. The stress of overload is clearly shown in this 10 of Wands. 10pm and she's still at her desk but I can't help but wonder why she's wearing a vest top? Could it be that she's a yoga or fitness trainer and has to do all of her paperwork after the evening classes are finished? The range of ages depicted in the Lovers card is refreshing but tis card shows all kinds of love. Which stands out to you most? I love the expression on this Knight of Coins face, it is perfect for the feeling of this card. The 9 of Blades in this deck is the first time I've seen blades or swords represented by fingernails! I also love how the sprite reflects the same expression as the woman in the card showing they feel her pain. SummaryThis is the best deck for…anyone who needs lots and lots of layers of symbolism and right up to date images. If you'd rather have the bloke next door than a medieval knight then try out the Everyday Enchantment Tarot. Where to Buy?
