Black Line Tarot Deck Review

I'm not a fan of black and white decks ordinarily but there was just something about the Black Line Tarot when I saw it on Kickstarter. The images are clear and crisp but unmistakably hand drawn. The content of each image is just enough, there's no unnecessary background distracting your eye. The trend in most recently published decks is for edge to edge, borderless images but this deck has small images with a large titles and lots of white space inside the lines and out. Despite this the arresting images really stand out.

The quality of the deck is excellent. The card stock is a good thickness with a satin sheen slight gloss smooth finish that makes them very easy to shuffle. The edging is a silver mirror that compliments the black and white colour scheme so well and the reversible backs are delicate feathers. The deck comes in a two piece card box with silver gilding.   

I found that the layout of the cards does tend to lend itself more to a linear layout or even just a one card draw. 
They have a kind of pagan feel with lots of animal skulls and trees with both people and animals represented. Do be aware there is some above waist nudity. It's not diverse in its representation.

​with plain edges. Even if you're a fan of colour this deck is intriguing and definitely worth adding to your tarot library. I mean, just look at that Nine of Swords!

There are some scary images and some cute and sweet and so it does cover a good range from that point of view and most importantly I've found it reads very well. There's no guidebook but it's inspired by the RWS system.
