I'm not the first person to say that 2020 has been a strange year. Now that it's coming to an end and bringing with it the potential for things to get better in 2021, I thought it would be good to look back and see what new decks came into my library and which were my favourites. This isn't just decks that were published in 2020, although a lot were, I picked up a few that had been released in previous years. So without further ado, in true Top of the Pops reverse order countdown tradition, here's my favourite Tarot purchases in 2020. 10. Lili Black Tarot
9. Dame Darcy Mermaid Tarot
8. The Mythical Creatures Tarot
7. Black Line Tarot
6. Cosmic Cycles Tarot
5. Fifth Spirit Tarot
4. Oak, Ash and Thorn Tarot
3. The Brady Tarot
2. The Botan Tarot
1. The Way of the Panda Mini
So that's it for our Top 10, I hope you enjoyed it. These are of course all independently produced decks. I originally wanted to do a Top 5 but there were too many decks to give credit to this year and that shows how independently produced Tarot decks are more than just bits of paper and card. They are filled with positive intentions and their beautiful stories elevate them to the level of prized jewels to be treasured. If you want to know more about these stunning decks, drop me a comment below or on insta. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Hi, thank you so much for your reviews! I thought I saw your review on Tarot of the Luz and now I cannot find it. Could you please throw it at me? Thank you again!

Thank you, May! Stupid me, I was certain it was here. I am looking for my first deck ever and Luz drew my attention - I like the naivete and altogether feel drawn to it. Anyway, I will keep reading your reviews and looking at your decks. And if you have time, could you please advise a good book for a novice?
Hey Eugenie, I used a book called "Tarot: How to Unlock the Secrets of the Tarot (Complete Illustrated Guide)" by Rachel Pollack when I started. I found it was good at pointing out the symbols and helping me read the images rather than having to memorise meanings. I no longer have my copy and I'm a bit sad about that :( You might be able to pick up a copy on eBay. The other book I'd recommend is "Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom: A Tarot Journey to Self-Awareness" also by Rachel Pollack. It is much more in depth but the information in there is priceless and you'll come back to it again and again. If you like personal accounts of tarot, Bakara Wintner's "WTF is Tarot?: ...& How Do I Do It?" is a wonderful read.

Thank you so much! I have ordered some books and will also look for the ones you have mentioned. As for the started deck, I have to laugh at myself for thinking I could use Magical Forest or something like that for learning Ordered a Universal RWS for starters. And after reading lots of reviews, I don't even want that Forest anymore. If I don't quit, I guess I will want Darkness of Light and/or Alchemical.
