A BR to Kelly Bear's tag on YouTubeI'm not sure if a BR (blog response) is allowed. But seeing as this is my blog and my rules, I'm going to do it anyway. Restricting this to five decks is going to be difficult and I don't want to associate it with any disasters i.e. what can you grab in a fire! So I'm going to imagine that I've been invited to a luxury island for a year, with lush greenery, palm trees and golden sandy beaches. Its an island with a strange set of rules and regulations, one of which being a max of 5 Tarot decks per person. So I'm going to grab my imaginary sunscreen and try my best to narrow the list down to five! 1. The Victorian Romantic TarotI started reading Tarot many years ago and then stopped and then started again. That's when I got the first edition of the Victorian Romantic Tarot. Then I stopped reading for others for a few years more and this was the deck that I stuck with and used for readings for myself. I've got the fancier third edition now and love both versions. This would be the deck that I could pull out as my historical deck not only because of the victorian paintings the images are taken from but because it represents my personal tarot history too. 2. Liz Huston's Dreamkeepers TarotThis images in this deck are so unusual, ethereal, dreamlike and beautiful. This would be the deck I would use if I needed to add a little mystery to my readings. I'd make sure I took the excellent companion book along with me for my own benefit, to continue my Tarot studies (while lying on the lounger in the sun sipping a mocktail, obviously). 3. Way Home TarotThis is currently my favourite 'alternative' deck. It has all the symbolism from the RWS but with a whole new set of images. This is such a 'cool' deck I could pull it out anytime of the day or evening to read for the beach babes and hunks with their piercings, tattoos and anklets. 4. Naked Heart TarotThis is my newest deck and I'm only just introducing myself to the lovely animals inside. I haven't quite got my head around this one yet but a year on a sandy beach should be just enough time to work with it. 5. Mystic Mondays TarotThis may be a surprise but this deck is the most suitable for any sunny place. If I were exiled in Siberia, this wouldn't be in my case but with sunshine, palm trees and tropical fruits this deck fits right in with the luxury island theme. The only unfortunate thing is that it makes me think of Barry Manilow songs. "Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl....". Oh dear....... Oh, but what about....Now it feels weird not to have included decks such as the stunning True Black or Dark Mansion Tarot and if I was spending my year in the freezing cold the Mystic Mondays would definitely be bumped for one of those. I'd miss the gals in the Bad Bitches Tarot too but I guess if you've got to leave your real life behind, you've got to leave some of your friends as well. They'll be waiting for you when you come home (ready to bitch about your lovely suntan, no doubt).
As most folks have said in their VR's to this tag, if you ask me again next week this list will probably change, but right now these are the top 5 decks I can't live without.
